i have a problem with dos. I have reformatted my hard drive to reinstall win 95 on my second computer. My prob is that even after reformatting dos comes up with " invalis media type". I removed my HDD and placed it in another machine. I then reformatted under win 95 and it still doesn't work. It keeps on bringing up the same message.
HELP !!!!!!!!! please

One step at a time:
1. Check the size of the hard-disk and other info. regarding the number of heads, sectors etc.. should be somewhere on the surface.
2. Connect to computer, reboot the machine, using CMOS to set to the size, header, mode etc.. (LBA, Normal, or AUTO).
3. Save the info. watch the screen to see what CMOS reports.
4. Boot machine using a DOS floppy, FDISK to see what type of partition you have? Delete/Recreate if you have too (DOS=FAT16; win95/98 startup disk=FAT16/FAT32 = depends on the size of the disk and what you what it to setup to + future expansions. Probably need some research on the choice of FATs.
4. Reformat with /s to put the bootsector and basic IO to disk (should have command.com), go in create and delete files/directory, using DIR to see the size.

Just a few things!
