Reply: (edit)Debug was used most for manipulating the contents of memory and to modify disk sectors, you can brush up on its usefulness at this link http://www.datainstitute.com/debug1.htm use to use it a lot before utils like laplink came along to transfer files between different machines via the serial port as well, pretty handy command once you get a handle on it. You can really garbel things up with it if your not careful, best to get use to it on a test platform and not your base equipment. USE WITH CAUTION

Reply: (edit)Please be aware that there is non MS-DOS in Windows XP it is NT COMMAND PROMPT, though similar some of the switches for COMMANDS are different. http://home.mweb.co.za/cl/clemkr/nt_commands.htm

Reply: (edit)Thankyou, just wanted to put a heads-up warning as many people do not realise that W2K/XP has no MS-DOS except in emulation, also I would presume that NT COMMAND PROMPT is better dealt with in the appropriate O/S forum? Well thats my understanding of the POSTING HEADER!

Reply: (edit)Hi hiho, Yup. One thing that will make a big difference using debug in NT is that NT will in many cases prevent "direct access to hardware". M2 If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.
