Reply: (edit)If you don't already have it, I recommend the DOS6 Help program: ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/softlib/mslfiles/olddos.exe from the olddos utilities package - packed with info and command line parameters.

Reply: (edit)Type "help" without the quotes at the command prompt. You should get a list of all the DOS commands. To get help on any given command, you type the command name followed by a space then /? This will give you all the parameters you can use for that command and what the command is for.

Reply: (edit)"Help" only works if you have the help.com program - which runs from the DOS6 qbasic - not shipped anymore with the OS, but I think *g* you can download it.

Reply: (edit) If you have VER 6.XX there are several ways. In addition to HELP at the command line the commands are listed and explained in the USER GUIDE.

Reply: (edit)My system failed to boot. It read first diskette drive A error. Then I got info on how to manually restore the windows 98/ ME registry from the net. It did not work. How can I get my system booted without losing all my data. This is sent to you via my wife's computer. Thanks, George

Reply: (edit)George, fyi - this is a (practically) dead post on the DOS page... try reposting your question on the Win9x or WinME page for better results - and include all pertinent details. Good luck
