Just came across this while looking at other stuff. Have seen posts here of people needing or wanting MS-DOS for different reasons and there is this place which claims to have 100s of OEM sets of the original MS-DOS 6.22 for sale for 39.95 + shipping: http://www.weirdstuff.com/cgi-bin/i... Have never brought anything from this site, so can't provide a personal recommendation for doing business with them. But, thought it might be helpful to somebody.

Oh, absolutely. In terms of doing "new" things with DOS, it would be much better (and cheaper!) to work with FreeDOS. There are old programs, particularly drivers and TSRs, which don't work well with FreeDOS. This isn't because the MS-DOS is "better", it's just that is what the progams were developed to use. If your main interest is setting up and running some of this old software for some reason, then you'll have an easier time using either MS-DOS or PC-DOS. I would recommend finding somebody who has a copy rather than shelling out $40 for it, but this does represent a "legal" way to get a copy if you don't have any other source.

I for one really appreciate having this source for 6.22 DOS (disks). As you've said there are several reasons for having/using DOS - and often (my case) it has to do with a proprietary program to which we have 'dependency'. Thanks so much for sharing this - at $40 it's actually, for me, a good investment.
Summary: Skip apart from thanking yourself! Very few posters ever do that I know!! A few other points to note when reconstucting a MS-DOS 6.22 Disk Set from CD or Harddrive: All three Disks need to be Labled ...
Summary: I am trying to install MS-DOs 6.22. I tried local stores for the software but it is not available. I also tried the internet but I was not successful either. Please let me know where to buy or down...
