Should I run "Edit.com" to edit the lines in autoexec.bat and config.sys? When I start up with the Win95 boot disk it says:
The following file is missing or corrupted: A:\cdromdrv.sys
There is an error in your config.sys file on line 3.
Device driver not found: 'MSCD001'
No valid Cd-Rom device drivers selected.
So I ran Edit.com to try to edit the lines anyway and I opened the file and it said:
DOS=HIGH,UMB
Device=C:\WINDOWS\Himem.Sys
Device=CDROM.SYS /D:MSCD001which you said was correct so I don't know what the problem is. I appreciate your help and patience and if you could please help me I would be very happy. Thanks

Hi,
Yes, it's correct in general. But instead of CDROM.SYS you need to substitude real name and location of your CDROM driver. For example, if you have Panasonic CDROM drive it usualy uses CR_ATAPI.SYS driver. Assuming you keep this driver in C:\CDROM directory you need to edit 3d line of Config.sys like that:
Device=C:\CDROM\CR_ATAPI.SYS /D:MSCD001
As a matter of fact most IDE CDROM drives are compatible, and if you don't have driver for your particular CDROM you can try to use driver from some other IDE type CDROM.
Good luck, Igor M

I'm haveing problems accessing my CDdriver in DOS mode. When ever I reset my computer to
run in DOS I can not switch to my "D:\" directory. At the top left-hand corner my computer states:
Device driver not found: 'IDECD001'
No valid CDROM device drivers selected.
What can I do to fix this problem?

You can download a bootdisk with a generic cdrom driver from www.bootdisk.com From there, you can reboot from "a" and see if the cd loads correctly. If it does...you can simply copy the lines from the autoexec.bat and config.sys to your HD and then reboot w/o the floppy in "a" ...all should work fine. (You also need to copy the device to your hard drive as Igor says)
I frequently simply boot from the floppy, then...from the prompt type...copy a:*.* c:
this will copy the floppy to your HD where C is your HD.

I need MSCD001 CD-ROM driver, have Creative Labes Sound Card and CD-ROM drive. I want receive the SBCD.SYS file.
