i am interested in building my own p.C and i understand you need an ms dos installation disk to detect certain components. i currently have windows 98 se, and want to know is there any way i can transfer dos (6.22 ect) onto floppy (or downoad it)

Download and using any unlicensed M$ software is illegal.

If you have built the PC all you will need is an W98OEM bootable floppy from www.bootdisk.com to format your hard drive;
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;255867.

Next change your BIOS to start from CD, pop in the W98 CD and it will ask if you want to boot from CD, you usually press any key and the setup will run. Windows 98 and newer make a very good job of installing drivers and your new MoBo will come with MoBo drivers, so NO you do not have to use MSDOS...............
