The MSDOS start up disk just boots the PC to an MSDOS prompt and if your drives are FAT32 formatted it can see the contents. As it stands it has no other functions, but is great for BIOS FLASHING
"DOS Mode"?? there is no such thing in XP, if you want to go into Command Prompt then boot PC with the CD or Setup Disk (6) Set and choose the repair option this will give you access to Command Prompt and all the available commands.........
Admittedly you can add other programs to the MSDOS floppy to make it useful, but feel that would be more appropiate in the XP Forum
Hi...To see the working of the startup disk u just set teh priority ie, First Boot Device--->FDD(into the BIOS setup, enter by pressing the DEL at the time of Booting start.)Restart ur comp. & Insert the bootable disk & then u will automatically entered into the DOS mode. Now give this command--> c:\>cd Windows c:\windows>win now u can reach at the Destination OS(only for Win98 & Win ME)
My message was cut short so this is a continuation of my above reply: ---------------
As I was saying, when I treied to change the command to the C: drive it didn't work. I have MS DOS applications that refuse to function properly through XP's "Command Prompt", whether I use the "command" or "cmd", doesn't matter. If any of you folks has any suggestions that would help me through this issue. It would be very appreciated.
