I am trying to install WIN95 on my laptop and got the following message
If you have HPFS or Windows NT File system you must create an MSDOS boot partition. If you have Lantastic server or superstor compression disable before running setup.
Anyone know how to make an MS-DOS boot partition? or how to check if I have lantastic Server or Superstor Compression? I am starting from a formatted drive. Thanks

Was that the whole message? It doesn't give any clue to what went wrong.
You get a similar message when you try to install onto a hard drive that's not properly formatted.
Perhaps the drive is partitioned to be FAT16 and formatted to be FAT32 or something like that.
If your drive is freshly formatted, you can just run fdisk, remove the partition, and create a new one, format it, and try again.

Here's what I would do. Boot from win9x boot disk. Run FDISK . delete all partitons on hard dirve. make new primary partition, make it active dos partiton. format the Hard drive with the dos format command. This will change your HD from NT file system to FAT16. you can ten install win 9x

I have not talked to one person that could answer my question and I am hoping someone
can help. I would simply like to find out
how to set-up my micrsoft outlook so no one
can read my email or access my microsoft
outlook with out using a password. This basically applies to the other individuals
in my house.

How to DEBUG and DELETE the DRIVE & PARTITIONS

The following debug routine will clear the hard drive and partitions. During this process you may get returned characters which are an indication that the string has gone in, if by chance you get an ERROR insure that you have typed the line in correctly, if not retype. Insure that you do not skip any lines.

After typing debug you will get the following:

c:\windows>debug

Now Type:

F 200 L1000 0 (Hit Enter)

A CS:100 (Hit Enter)

MOV AX, 301 (Hit Enter)

MOV BX, 200 (Hit Enter)

MOV CX, 1 (Hit Enter)

MOV DX, 80 (Hit Enter) (80 for HD 0, 81 for HD 1)

INT 13 (Hit Enter)

INT 20 (Hit Enter)

(Blank Line ¨C Important) (Hit Enter)

G (Hit Enter) By pressing G this will execute the above script,

Q (Hit Enter)

Note: You will now have to reboot and use Fdisk and format to set up partitions.

does this be able to deal with this problem?

warmly waiting for the helps?
thanks!
