Probably because you're getting them in *.zip format versus *.imz format and thus they're not placing io.sys and msdos.sys in the correct spot on the floppy disk (to make them bootable). Good job finding the CAPS lock, by the way.

Some sites will have it, some will not. It's sort of luck of the draw. You will need WinImage to install an *.imz file to a floppy disk. It's free to download and will probably be linked to if the site carries *.imz files.

IF THE ZIP FILE THAT YOU DOWNLOADED HAS SYS.COM AND IF YOU HAVE AN OLDER COMPUTER THAT HAS DOS 3.3 OR EARLIER YOU CAN USE IT TO MAKE A BOOTDISK. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS UNZIP THE ZIP FILE TO A DISK. THEN AT THE DOS PROMPT TYPE A: AND PRESS ENTER THEN TYPE SYS B: AND PRESS ENTER.THIS SHOULD PUT THE FOLLOWING FILES ON THE DISK YOU USED FOR DRIVE B:\ IO.SYS,MSDOS.SYS,COMMAND.COM THEN ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS COPY THE REMAINING FILES ON TO THE SAME DISK AND IT SHOULD BOOT YOUR COMPUTER WITH THE VERSION OF DOS THAT YOU UNZIPED. P.S. THIS IS ASUMING THAT YOU ONLY HAVE ONE DISK DRIVE, AND IT WILL TAKE TWO DISK A: WOULD BE THE DISK YOU UNZIP THE FILE TO. B: WOULD BE THE DISK YOU USE TO MAKE THE BOOTDISK. THIS WILL WORK ON ANY COMPUTER THAT IS NOT RUNNING ANY VERSION OF WINDOWS AFTER 3.10 ...
Someone please Email MuzzSJm@Yahoo.co.uk and tell me where can I get a copy of MSDOS on the Net????
