Comment:

Hi there,

I am trying to get a mouse working for my computer, which has dos 6.22 installed.

I cannot find any mouse drivers at all ( I understand that they should lie in the \DOS folder).

I've checked my dos 6.22 disks and I cannot find any mouse.sys or mouse.com.

According to documentation I have, they should be there.

Can anyone help me?

Many thanks

Mike

MS-DOS has never included Mouse Drivers. Microsoft Mice and most others should come with a Mouse Driver Disk. If you need a Mouse Driver visit my PowerLoad Resource Pages and download one from the MS-DOS page.

Thanks Mick, I'll try that.

Like I said before, a book I have on Dos 6.22 by Allen Wyatt ("Special Edition using MS-DOS 6.22 2nd edition - October 1999) in which the author writes "DOS 6.0 includes a generic mouse driver called MOUSE.COM, which can usually be found in the DOS directory."

Later on he presents a table of device driver files included with DOS 6.2 (and so presumeably DOS 6.22 as well). MOUSE.COM is included in this list!!!

And in an appendix at the back entitled "MS-DOS 6.22 files" he lists "MOUSE.COM - Microsoft Mouse Driver version 8.20. Installed by Setup only if an older version is present on the disk." This is why I checked the installation disks to see if it was there.

I'm wondering what on Earth this guy is talking about - the file is clearly not there (as Mick says).

Thanks for any input.

Mike

I've been using a generic universal mouse driver called cutemouse 1.8 for about 2 weeks. So
far no problems. You can get it here:
