I did not have enough space t o make my title descriptive. Anyway, I tried several Mouse Drivers including CuteMoue, but I have this game that I realy like called "Under a Killing Moon" and it always says that it cannot detect a mouse. It is a DOS game, of course. Do you know of a way I can fix this?

Under a Killing Moon is very hard to configure if it does not configure right away the first time.You say mouse but video and sound may also lead to configuration problems.Make sure you have the mouse driver loaded in the autoexec.bat.You have two ports that can be used for mouse:serial or PS/2.Do a little experimenting.It is a good game.Try it on other computers when you have a chance.Download the cloaking.exe program that you load in the autoexec.bat before the mouse driver.It will increase the conventional memory available.

Good luck.

Installing a Mouse Driver:
MS-DOS applications require what is called a DOS mouse driver to activate your
mouse. Every mouse driver manufacturer has one or more versions of their driver
that is incompatible with Under a Killing Moon. If you experience any of the
following, you will either need to add a DOS mouse driver to your system startup
or replace your current DOS mouse driver for one that is compatible with UAKM.
You may be able to locate a DOS mouse driver on your system. If not, you must
obtain a DOS mouse driver from the vendor where you purchased the computer:
Start the game and get the message: No mouse detected. Please install a mouse
and try again.
Memory Allocation Errors
Random Disappearing of the Mouse Cursor
The mouse arrow moves but doesn't register clicks.
System Lock Ups.Three different mouse drivers are supplied with Under a Killing Moon; they are
contained in a compressed file called ATS.exe. Follow the instructions below to
extract the mouse drivers and add one to your startup configuration.

Good luck.

The link you gave me was quite usefull. My problem is that whenever I go into DOS, it just says that it is install, etc, then locks up. I mean I could not even do CTRL + ALT + DEL.
I am still trying it though. Thanks again for the link :)

I forgot to add that I followed the steps for installing the mouse drivers and I made a dosstart.bat and typed "mouse820" in it like it said, but was it suposed to be in the Windows directory? Must be because it loaded it when I went into DOS, but made it lock up. Could you help me fix this?
Also, if CuteMouse actual does work with UAKM, what do I have to do to get it to work?

From what you say I think you are going into dos from the Windows environment.You should use a boot disk instead and from the dos prompt go to the folder with the program files and type the exe file to start the program.Get a boot disk from bootdisk.com or make your own.I don't know which operating system you have but a basic boot disk has the
config.sys with the files:
dos=high,umb
device=a:\himem.sys
device=a:\emm386.exe 4096 ram
devicehigh=a:\cdrom.sys /d:oemcd1
Autoexec.bat is:
lh=a:\cloaking.exe
lh a:\mouse.exe
lh a:\mscdex.exe /d:oemcd1
set blaster=a220 i5 d1
Make sure all the files are on the boot disk.You need a cd-rom driver of your choice like vide-cdd.sys or oakcdrom.sys:use its name in the config.sys line.These are two universal drivers.These two configuration files you create are plain text files but with the extension .sys and .bat.Use a word processor and 'save as' : a:\config.sys and a:\autoexec.bat respectively.After you boot to dos type:
cd\
cd moon
moon.exe
Press enter after each line.Use your own folder and file name.Look from Windows to write down the path you have.Write down the sound specs shown above.They should work with most sound cards.
Good luck.

So restarting into DOS mode from Win9x will not work? I have a Win9x boot disk, so you think that will work? I am going to try the link you gave just in case. Which boot disk do you recomend?
But hey, I know that I did not have to use any boot disks before. All I had to do was restart to MS-DOS, then execute it. If I could only remember what I used to do to set it up before.
BTW, I do not even know if my sound card is working anyway because this particular computer does not have speakers for now. And what is playing UAKM w/o speakers? Shame...

Windows 98 boot disk is a good one but delete the config.sys and autoexec.bat and replace with above ones.You can use the drivers and other dos files found on the boot disk for mouse, cd-rom and memory management.When you boot with the boot disk you will go to your program folder and start the program as follows:
cd\
c:
cd moon
moon.exe
Always check your path to the files and write them down on a piece of paper to start the program.
Take your time:it may be intimidating at first but a dos boot disk is simple enough and will give you an interesting game to play.Some programs offer sound through the PC speaker.UAKM was a rather sophisticated piece of programming for the dos era.
Good luck.

hmm... I created the boot disk, edit the files that you specified, but it only locks up.
Mind if I ask for a better solution? I used to know how to set it up just right so that UAKM would detect a mouse and such. Do you know how to do that? I mean all I used to have to do was type in those commands once I restart in MS-DOS mode and it would start. So, how do I do that?

Digital sound must be installed and the midi is optional with UAKM.Until you find a way to setup sound...from dos the game playing will have to wait.The sound blaster vibra 16 is a good model to install if you can find one in your area.The first time you start the program you will have the sound selection to do.Click Auxiliary panel,then Config,then Config sound card.The auto detection program looks for the card until one is found.If your boot disk did not boot to dos then it is not working.Visit for a Windows 95 boot disk(you will have to add a blaster line):
http://www.bootdisk.com
Good luck.

Well, nvm the speakers - I have computers that have speakers. I do not want to have to use a boot disk because I know it has been done w/o using one. Besides, that does not work for me; I tried several times.
