How can I replace this file in a laptop with no cdrom? Problem, I tried to start word 97 and it gave me this error message stating winword.exe could not be found.......... Thanks in advance!

Have you searched the hard drive?
Otherwise, if you can't d/l it, you could use WinZip or similar to put the file on floppies (assuming you have access to another machine with the file or CD) and rebuild and extract it on the laptop - or try using a parallel or serial port cable to connect the two machines.
