Comment:
I downloaded the most recent definition files for FProt, but the file has become large enough that even the zipped file is 1.6MB. My DOS computer is not connected to the net yet, so I have to transfer everything to floppy from this computer, then to my DOS box.
I split the .def file in half, and transferred the 2 files, but now when I try to merge them in EDIT, the merged file is missing a majority of the data because of file size limitations. Does anyone know how I can merge these two files in DOS so that I have one complete definition file when I am done?
You just can't merge a file with EDIT. I also assumed you split it with EDIT. Binary files cannot be arbitrarily split by text mode programs. What you need is a utility program like Split. Search for 'file split'. They will you to split a file into floppy size pieces and reassemble them back to one big file.
