I have a PC running DOS MS-Client3 and a LAPTOP with Win95. I am sharing the LAPTOP's C: drive to share with the PC.
But, I can not see the PC on the network from the LAPTOP. Can I share PC's C: drive to share with the LAPTOP?

If on the 95 machine you have file and printer sharing enabled, yes. Also you need to set up both machines to use the same networking protocols and workgroups (I'm assuming you don't have anything as sophisticated as a PDC with DHCP server) so they can see each other. Also, you may wish to ping yourself from both machines to make sure their cards are installed properly (ping works on TCP/IP only) else you'll have to hope they are. I think that's about right... You can also check the World of Windows Networking for more info.

Wait, I read that backwards. Hmph. You are using 'net share' then to share the laptop's c:\? As before, make sure the same protocols and such are established. Also, you may wish to make sure you are using proper cabling. If it is RJ-45 cable, you will need a special cable called a cross-over cable to connect two machines directly. Else you can use a hub. If it is RJ-11 or whatever that single line crap is, then you can connect them directly but make sure you have T-Connectors on each end as well as Terminators on the ends where no cable is going to anywhere.
xT-----------Tx
Laptop PCx = Terminator
T = T-Connector
- = RJ-11 cableHope that helps...

I have installed IPX and NetBEUI on both computers. My cable is coax to both computers. I guess my problem is that I don't have anything shared on my PC running DOS MS-Client3. How do I setting sharing drives and printers from my PC?
Thanks for responce....Angelo

On the DOS machine, use 'net share' to create a share. You will be unable to see a machine on IPX/SPX unless it is sharing something if my memory serves me well. You can type 'net share /?' to get the full help on that command. You could also try sharing from the 95 machine and then using 'net use' from the DOS machine to try and connect. (Once again, 'net use /?' for a list of parameters.) See how that goes.
