Yes, for once I actually have a question. I need to know where I can download a good low-level format program for DOS. Any help is appreciated.
For once I agree. Low Level Format can do more harm than good on a modern hard drive. What you have to ask yourself is 'Why do I want to do it?"
To 100% format drive use: FORMAT C: \U This will Format & reset MBR for you. (UnFormat will not recover disk) To Check and/or Rewrite Bad Clusters use: FORMAT C: \C Or to just reset MBR try: FDISK \MBR (Differing reports on this one!)
These 3 commands will do what Low Level Format would do anyway!

I'd suggest going to the web site of the hard drive manufacturer. They'll have low level format utils as well as warnings if there are concerns with newer drives. Go to the source. :)

I have a copy of a utility called LLFORMAT.COM its about 130kbs in size. I will e-mail a copy to you, as I cannot remember where I found it!
Above warning are correct, But I think Ryan can make his own mind up about the dangers of Low Level Format.
Let me know what you think of this application, as I may upload it to my PowerLoad Resource Site.
Summary: I know that many of you have been through this conversation many times before, but this time it is a bit different. I am not asking if I should LLF (low-level format) my drive. I know it is neccesary....
