My friend had to re format his hard drive due to a virus. When we try to reload the driver, the system reconizes the cd-rom but will not load the drivers. He owns a creative labs 48x mx 4833e cd-rom. can anyone help to tell us what we are doind wrong.

Configuring the autoexec.bat and the config.sys files for a cdrom in dos:


1 Sys the a drive:

(Example) oakcdrom.sys
2 Copy edit.com, mscdex.exe, and the cdrom driver to a:

3 Go to a: and (Type) edit autoexec.bat (Enter)

4 (Type) a:\mscdex.exe /d:cd1 (Enter)

Hit the alt key or shift/alt if just alt don’t work and go down to save and hit the enter key.
Then hit the alt key and go down to exit and hit the enter key.

5 At the c prompt (Type) edit config.sys (Enter)

6 (Type) device=a:\oakcdrom.sys /d:cd1 (Enter)

Hit the alt key and go down to save and hit the enter key.
Then hit the alt key and go down to exit and hit the enter key.

7 At the c: prompt hit (ctrl-alt-del) to reboot and boot from the floppy.
