With each new processors family, the number of ISA slots has gone reducing in the motherboards that are sold in the market of home computers, until disappearing with the family Pentium 4.

Because of this I want to share a "discovery" with the integrating of this forum.

It is considered the SOYO’s motherboard SY-P4I 845PE ISA, that it possesses 3 full length ISA slots (yes, three!) and support Intel’s 3.06 GHz CPU and DDR333 memory. For more details:

http://www.soyo.com.tw/products/proddesc.php?id=194

And the photo is in:

If some of you already it used this motherboard (or another for Pentium 4 with ISA), to me would like to know yours commentaries.

Best regards...

Hi,

This Pentium-4 mother-board has 3 ISA ports, 4 PCI
ports and 1 AGP port but only two memory slots and
that most likely means one has to avoid an UpGrade
path and buy two large-size sticks from the start,
which brings this other point: the time is now or
never since i don't how much time this little gem
will wait on some well protected shelf for owners:

This is the support available, it might also be an
indication of how much time this product has left
before it's hard to get - and the rest with it...

;-)

Thanks for the tip! That's exactly what i looked
for this summer, too bad i've spent the money!...

Thankyou but the price seems a bit steep and appears to be only available in the USA.

Thanks from the UK, also found these, but no pricing, would think around £60.00, could buy two old PIII Base units for that price with Monitors:

Thank you...

Yes, P4 boards with ISA are available, but regrettably they are expensive.

During the long reign of the ISA interface were developed many cards for industrial applications. And furthermore there is a wide range of common users that have very good SCSI scanners, sound cards and modems for DOS/W3.1 that require ISA slots.

Someone knows if there are DOS/W3.1 drivers for Onboard Lan and Audio of P4I845PE ISA motherboard?

Best regards...

On-board Sound Driver is I beleive a C-Media 9738 AC/97 Codec which has no "MS-DOS and compatibles" support, best to locate an ISA non Plug'n'Play SB compatible sound card.

The LAN Chip is I believe a DAVICOM DM91xx, and yes drivers are available, obviously depending on the type of network drivers one requires.

"MS-DOS and compatibles" TCP/IP: Wattcp based uses a Packet Driver. Whilst MS Lanman, NWC3 and Lantastic uses an NDIS2 driver.

Windows 3.1 uses DOS Networking

Windows for Workgroup 3.1x TCP/IP: NDIS2 driver.

Novel Netware Client versions 3/4/5: 16bit and 32bit ODI driver.
