I bought a 56k modem with a lucent chipset from a traveling trade show,(no support). I need to use it in dos and cant seem to get it recognized. Works great in windoze. Linux cant find it either. (I dual boot) How do I find out if it is a "winmodem" or not?

Look at the software you used to install it in windows. If it is one inf file it is a hard modem. The soft ware for winmodems is involved and is only good for the operating system for which it is written. In windows in control pannel, modems, diagnostics, more info compare these ATi responses with the information at www.56k.com

Gee, hope that worked.
I think it's a win modem. It works really good in win95. I always hook at around 50k. Not bad for $29. Appreciate the response. Thanks.
