To start off, I'm still vary green at this stuff but I'm learning. I have a 486 laptop that I was going to reformat and install windows 95. I was in the process of Fdisk, deleting partitions when my 3 yr old son decided to help me out while I was away. Now all my computer does on boot is say Assex AST 10.11 (or something close to that) press enter to Reboot. Just with a blinking cursor. Basically any key that is touched, it reboots to that identical sequence. I suspect DOS got deleted as well. I am clueless on what step to take to at least get my A:\ or C:\ prompt back and working. Can anyone help?

As you state you are green (from Mars?)it may be best to seek local help from a friend who can look over your shoulder.
You require a floppy boot disk, that allows you to get the pc running and complete the changes to the hdd.It should include FDISK and FORMAT (use the /C option) etc.
You may have to change the bios set up in order to search drive a: first.
If the hdd is now so bad, that FDISK does not get you out of trouble, possibly a low level format may be required. Worry about that at the time.
Good luck - keep us posted.
