i (unwisely) used the format c: , when i restarted i get the 'invalid system disk' error message, which means my hard drive i guess. I know the only way i could fix this would be in setup but i don't know how. Any help would be greatly aprecciated, thanks.

you will get that error message as long as no operating system is installed. you will need to reinstall whatever OS you had on there.

Start your computer with a boot disk and at the command prompt type itn SYS C: This will make your hard drive bootable. If you want just the basic DOS functionality, type COPY *.* C: at the command prompt also. it will load the contents of the bootdisk onto your hard drive. Now restart your computer, and you should get a prompt that looks like C:\>
if u do COPY *.* C: as suggested above u may have to edit ur autoexec.bat & config.sys, as some command lines may point to ur a: drive...

A good bootdisk just points to the root directory i.e.
Mouse
You do not need to write A:\mouse.exe or C:\dos\mouse.exe unless you start to use sub-directories! (Folders to you WinDoze users)in fact you do not need to add the .exe at all.
Easy job to edit it anyways

Use the supplied bootdisk with your windows installation disk if you've got one, if not simply do a search on a search engine for "ultimate bootdisk" which I find is the best bootdisk ever created, put the bootdisk into your system and reinstall windows. Hope that helps
