invalid media type reading drive C

when I start my computer it gives me the error "Invalid media type reading drive C Abort,Retry,Fail?" Anyone have any idea how to fix this one?? i'm running in dos so I have no windows.

I would run fdisk. if that came up with "no fixed disk present" then there is a problem with either the controller or the ribbon cable. if fdisk finds a hard drive, then the only way to fix it would be to format the drive. if there is a problem with the drive, it will not allow you to format it.

Check your CMOS settings. It really sounds like they are off. If you are sure they are correct, run fdisk/mbr to attempt to fix the problem.
