I have a Fast Master pc/xt that Iam trying to revive. The (a)drive is a 360, (b)drive is a 720. Both a & b drives work fine. The machine has the Phoenix 8088 rom bios Version 2.51 The problem is when I try to acess c drive I get a message that states Invalid drive specification. There are also error massages when the machine boots-up. they are in the config.sys file. Any help would be appreated. Thanks in advance

Well, can you boot from the hard drive, or do you boot from diskettes?
If you can boot from the hard drive, but then you can't access it anymore, you have to run some sort of disk recovery tool (I recommend Norton Disk Dictor) and probably you'll have to reformat the drive.
If you can't boot from the hard drive, it is probably either broken or not installed.
Try running FDISK. If FDISK ends with a message like 'cannot access hard drive', then that's the problem.
If FDISK does not produce error messages, check that there is a DOS partition on the drive.I don't think your PC/XT has a CMOS RAM, so you'll probably have to set up the hard drive with jumpers on the board.
And of course; check that all cables and connections are tight.
If you need more helpful help, you should include your CONFIG.SYS file and also tell what DOS version you are using and what error messages you get.
good luck.

Well yes I'm booting from (a)drive
You were correct about fdisk. It worked ok
but it is now asking for the DOS system disk.
I donot have one to use. Is there a web site I could download it from or are there any other sources where I could obtain one. Everything I have is on 1.44 disks The machine has DOS 5.0 loaded on it.
