I am trying to load a cdrom into dos. I have installed the program on c: and need to have the cd running at the same time. My cd drive is F: When I start the program from c:, it starts, but then I get an error saying that the cannot find F:main.file or whatever it is looking for. Dos won't even let me bring up the F: as it tells me that it is an invalid drive specification. Is there a way in dos that I can make it read my F:(cd) drive as a valid drive specification?

If you have used mscdex.exe in the autoexec.bat ,add at the end of the line /L:F LH A:\mscdex.exe /d:oemcd1/L:F Change the path for yours. Good luck.

Make sure you have the right DEVICE= line in the Config.sys for your CD-ROM. (You can use OAKCDROM.SYS from your startup disk if you don't have your generic cd rom driver) When you first get into DOS, type F: and enter to see that you have the cd rom drive in dos. Don't pay any attention to drive not ready if you have no CD in the drive, If you don't get "invalid drive specification" you have a drive F:.
