I have formated my old laptop. I have the dos 6,22 and windows 3,11 disks. When I start the computer with my dos 6,22 first floppy disk in the computer it says "non system disk"
Do I need a boot disk or I am doing something wrong?
If I need a boot disk where do I find it?

you need to boot from disk 1 in order to install dos6.22. The message you received indicates that the disk you have doesn't have the boot information on it, and you need to rectify that. Can you get to a system with dos6.22? If you can, all you have to do is at the dos prompt type "Sys a:" and hit enter. when it's done, you should be able to boot from that disk. If you don't have access to another system with dos622 on it, you could try searching the net for a boot disk and get the system files from that. Or if you have a friend.....

Check your bios to see if booting from A: is enabled somewhere along the boot structure. (As long as A: is in there somewhere, and it (the system) doesn't find a boot structure anywhere else, it should end up "defaulting" to the A: drive and boot.)
www.bootdisk.com has the boot disk(s) you need to get going.

Thanks for answering my message. I will try your tips!
Can I install dos 6.22 when I have started my computer with my bootdisk?
Do I only put in the disk and write A:instal.exe? After I have installed dos 6,22 can I then install windows 3,11? Do I just put in the disk and write a:install.exe?
regards

Once you get it booting with the floppy, and the drive is ready for use (formatted for the O/S), then just put in disk 1 of the msdos setup disks and type SETUP at the A: command prompt. It will prompt you for the other two disks. Once dos 6.xx is loaded, it's the same for installing windows. Put in disk one and type SETUP at the A: prompt.
