Would like recommendations or pointers to tutorials for installing DOS 6.2 to a clean hard drive or even installing it over DOS 3.4/Win 3.1

Thanks!

Boot the computer with the DOS 6.22 boot disk. At A:> prompt type "format c: /s" without the quotation marks. When that's done, run setup.exe from the first DOS 6.22 disk. When you've finished installing DOS, run setup.exe from the first Windows disk.
I hope I've been some help.

Hey Shaggee, Try this (If your 6.22 setup disk is bootable - It should be!)

Insert MS-DOS 6.22 - Disk 1
Switch on machine.
MS-DOS 6.22 will boot to setup,
Tell you that an older version exsists.
Say yes to overwrite.
Windows 3.1 stays working!

Well?

Okay, so what if I have a hard drive in which I formatted, but forgot to format with the system intact and need to reinstall EVERYTHING? I set up HIMEM.SYS and that worked. I setup EMM386 for 8192 and computer knocked it down to 7000. Ok, so when I do setup.exe from the DOS 1 (6.22)disk, computer says "not enough memory for program" or something like that.

very simple with the dos setep disk 1 in the drive reboot the pc and back out of dos setup...then type FDISK and delete the primary partition then create a primary partition and make it active then just reboot the pc and setup will scan the drive for errors, format it and install the files needed....at the end of the dos installation at the dos prompt type memmaker and run the express setup and tell it you want to use XMS
