I boot using a win2k cd to a dos prompt, and would like to install dos 6.22. When i type in the DOS setup program from another CD (dos6.22) it says " To setup DOS, insert disk 1 in your floppy drive and hit enter." I have no floppy drive. How do I just get ti to run from CD???
ALL HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
THANKS IN ADVANCE.

You might try to copy the setup files to a temp dir and run from there most floppy installs will allow this

If you can get into the bios change the boot sequence to place the CDROM in the first position, put the cd in the CDROM drive and type "setup" and see what happens.

Your major problem is that you don't have
a partition into which you can install
DOS6.22. Need Fat16 not more than 2GB.Next problem. It must be bootable.
If you can repartion your hard drive you
might be able to do it.

Apart from the problem tech-fred discribes. You cannot 100% install DOS from a CD-ROM in the way you describe.
MS-DOS setup from ver 5.0 onwards looks for a 'DISK LABEL' Disk 1 to start with, followed by Disk 2 & 3 It may seem like a simple problem to overcome, but it is written into the setup program in machine code! So even if you label your CD-ROM
DISK 1 (6 spaces between DISK & 1) It will then ask you to insert DISK 2 and will not progress beyond that point.Microsoft did release a CD-ROM version of MS-DOS 6.x & Windows 3.1 or WFWG 3.11 that came with a MS-DOS bootdisk and the rest of the files on a CD-ROM. But not a bootable CD-ROM as far as I can remember.
