I have successfully downloaded IBM PC-DOS 2000 from: http://filebank.icolony.ph/cgi-bin/item.cgi?itemid=6417&
The .zip file called pcdos2k.zip contains 7 files:
Loaddskf.exe
PCDOS_1.dsk
PCDOS_2.dsk
PCDOS_3.dsk
PCDOS_4.dsk
PCDOS_5.dsk
PCDOS_6.dskOk so now what do I do? I have tried running the Loaddskf.exe program because I thought it would start copying the files to floppy disks or something. I don't understand how its supposed to work? Any help is much appreciated.
I have been trying to run the Loaddskf.exe program from a MS-DOS window with in Windows 2000 Professional. Maybe thats the problem, I don't know?
This doesn't make any sense to me. Please help,
eminence

By the way I am setting this OS up for a laptop on my desktop machine which has Win2k Professional on it. PC Dos 2000 is not for the desktop with win2k but the laptop.
Just to clarify that,
thanks,
eminence

there should be a file_id.diz and/or a readme.txt included with the zipfile which explains it a little further. if not then try this at the DOS prompt:
loaddskf pcdos_X.dsk a:
where X is the disk image number. do this under win9x or DOS only. windows NT/2K/XP command prompt IS NOT DOS. windows NT/2K/XP does not allow direct hardware access so it will not work on those OS. do not forget to physically label the disks so you don't get lost.
disk 1 is the boot disk. insert it in your pc, reboot, and it will prompt you for installation.
pcdos 2000 only supports fat16, NOT FAT32. check out powerload's site for explanation. if you want pcdos 2000 to see all your drive then you need to get a drive overlay program (diskmanager, ezdrive) preferably from your hd manufacturer.
i hope this helps. good luck!

what dos mp3 player will you be using, by the way? i recommend DSS from this site:
http://www.opus.co.tt/dave/
DSS originally came with necromancer dos navigator. how was the connection and server response at icolony?

Get Winimage program. Open file ,select diskette format, select write or format/write, insert diskette in drive A.(move mouse pointer over icons to read their meaning easily).Good luck.

Thanks very much for your help. I am going to be using Mpxplay version 1.XX. The reason for using Mpxplay is it supports ogg vorbis. And its fairly user friendly. It has a visualisation and other "useful" things.
There is not .id or .txt document in the zip archive. The server at IColony was pretty ok I guess. Not the fastest but definately not the slowest. The annoying thing was that it would not allow me to download with Getright or Download Accelerator or the Interenet Explorer inbuilt downloading thing. I had to use Opera to download it. But apart from that it went ok.
I never new that the IColony site existed before yesterday. I have signed up and I might upload some useful stuff there.
I have download the winimage program and saved the above instructions by Bundat to the hard-drive.
Thanks,
eminence
