I agree, so I will reply for the public.

BASIC as clunky a language as it is will do just about any thing I want, even if it DOES take peeks and pokes.

Oh, yah if it is good enough for Windows 9x to be written, then by God it's good enough for small DOS progies. :) After all the progies don't have to run line an OS

Windows is written in mostly VB and VC++ if you ask me.

There's absolutely *no way* that Windows was written in BASIC of any form.

You can download the original QuickBasic 4.5 install disks at

http://members.xoom.com/prostarqb/qb-4.50-disk1.zip
http://members.xoom.com/prostarqb/qb-4.50-disk2.zip

Note: since the original disks were 720K, they'll both fit on one 1.44M floppy -- it's fine to do so.
