If you're using Windows95 or 98, you can use the provided cable drivers. You can check to see if you have them already installed, this is how:
On the start menu, open accessories, then communications. If it's installed, you'll see an icon called "Direct Cable connection".
Run that, and the rest should be self explanatory. However, if it's not there, you can install it by opening the control panel, running the "Add/remove Programs" application, then choose the "Windows Setup" tab, then highlight "communications", click "Details", and you'll see "direct cable connection" with a check box. You will need your Windows 95 or 98 distribution CD at this point. Check this check-box, and click OK. It should ask for your Windows95/98 CD, and step you through the rest.
Once you have this installed, you should be able to connect any two similarly configured computers together to share resources. This would of course require a Null Modem cable of the appropriate type (depends on your machine).
Hope this helped. :)
