If you had NT installed then you will have an NTFS partition which you will need to remove. Go to http://www.freedos.org/freedos/software/lsmtable.cgi?dir=util and download Ranish Partition Maneger for this (put it on a bootdisk). Delete all partitions then reboot. After that you can use the msdos fdisk utility that should be on your boot disk (if you don't have one go to www.bootdisk.com) to create a new partition. Reboot and format as usuall.
Boot from floppy;
fdisk- just type "fdisk" at the a:> prompt and select yes to large disk support then select option 1 to create a primary partition and yes to use max space and make active (you have to reboot here)
format- Type "format c:" at a:> prompt, when this is finished you will be ready to install your Op System
