i cant get my cdrom to work

i have an acer acros 486sx/33 and my cdrom will not work. the cdrom is hooked to a soundblaster 16. i tried to download the drivers but i had no success with them. can anybody help me with this one.

One solution is to get an EIDE cd-rom and set the jumper to slave. Then put it on the primary IDE channel on the hard drive cable. You could run yourself to death trying to get that drive to work. You don't know which of the sound card or the drive is bad or if it is just the wrong driver.
