My HP CD-Writer 9150i has suddenly stopped recognizing blank CD-R discs and some of my burned CDs. CD-RW formatting hangs after 80%.
HP has Firmware 1.0c update, but it doesn't work on Windows 2000. After reinstalling the drivers and doing all the other tricks, they suggested that I shoud disable DMA, but that causes my system to hang for about 10-20 second periods with 10 second delays.. so I'm unable to use my computer.
The CD-Writer is on my secondary IDE (as a master) which also has Iomega ZIP drive as a slave. ZIP drive has timing problems with my KT7As VIA chipset so I have installed a fix from Iomega. Now my ZIP uses DMA Multiword mode 1 and CD-Writer uses DMA Multiword mode 2.
So, how can I change the CD-Writers DMA mode to PIO 4 without hangups? Or is this even the problem?
Is there anything else I can do.. execpt test my CD-Writers aerynamics and get a new LG or something.

This is more of a Windows 2000 & Hardware problem than it is DOS I would surgest you post it on the Windows 2000 forum if you have not done so already.
Good Luck
