how to use a restore disk

i do not no how to start up a restore disk. it does not work by just putting the disk into the cd rom drive.

Go into cmos/bios setup and check the boot order. Make sure the cdrom is the first boot device. Then put the cd in the cdrom and see if it'll boot from there.
