You didn't provide any information about where you are in the process, what you have to work with. So, this response may be worthless to you because it is based on assumptions which may not be based in the reality of your situation.

1) Have an IBM compatible PC with a minimum of a CPU compatible with the Intel 286, at least 2MB of RAM and, at least, 20MB of hard drive space and a 1.44MB floppy drive. These are the bare minimums, you will need significantly more to do much with Windows 3.11 after installation.

2) Install MS or PC DOS on the hard drive. Versions 5.0 - 6.22 will support Windows 3.11 as is, ideally install MS-DOS 6.22. There are 3rd party modifications which will allow using DOS versions 7.0 and 7.1 to work with Windows 3.11, but it wouldn't be a good idea to mess with that unless you understand what your doing.

3) After you have installed DOS on the hard drive and booted the computer from DOS on the hard drive, put Disk 1 of the Windows 3.11 installation disk set into the floppy drive and at the DOS prompt run the command:
A:\setup
Then, just following the directions provided on the screen and accepting the default configurations will result in a working Windows 3.11 installation.
