JUST KEEP SHOUTING, YOU'LL PROBABLY SCARE IT AWAY!!
... seriously tho' ... boot sector viruses can usu be fixed even by old AV programs - - -doesn't ring any bells on a search.
Try typing and entering:sys c:
from a clean, write protected boot disk, appropriate to your system. Not absolutely sure this will work, but it certainly won't hurt.
Boot sector virii are pretty old school - not too hard to rewrite a boot sector - I would think even an old copy of msav or PCTools AV etc should fix you up.
... ok - now this is the reason you should Exactly quote messages from your computer when seeking help:"Viruses
Polyboot.512 (Boot Virus): This virus carries encrypted viral code and is capable of infecting the MBR
(Master Boot Record) of hard disks, as well as the boot sectors of floppies. In addition, it incorporates
stealth techniques to prevent it from being detected. When the virus is run, it goes memory resident, and
can be detected from DOS due to the fact that it takes up 2KB of conventional memory. This virus does not
infect files or carry out destructive actions."
... doesn't seem that bad - run some sort of AV, check any floppies as well.(above all, don't panic *g*)

Another thing to try, boot your PC with a clean, write protected boot diskette that is the same version of DOS that is on your PC. When you get to the command prompt type:
fdisk /mbr
This will restore your master boot record to it's original state, and hopefully wipe out that virus.... Please not that this may have adverse effects if you are running something like system commander or a disk overlay program that actually puts a useful piece of software in the MBR.Hope that helps,
-Michael

Was it a terrorist attack?
Being a collector of viri and trojans........
but never a sender......all I can say is
get a copy of a anti viri program.I said never a sender,,,,well,,, collectors do trade.......but respect your computer.
Most of the people affliiated with the World Library have lost interest in Viri and Trojans.
Even a crappy anti viri program will get you up and running.....
W.L.

Yes you can do it from a command line in any system provided your CLEAN boot disk is the same OS as the MBR you are trying to fix and ofcourse you have fdisk on your disk and it supports /mbr =o)

I have avirus on floppy that named polyboot.512
The antivirus panda can not clean this virus
please help me immediately.
