how to change drive letter's in DOS

literally want to change drive C to be called Drive E

You can't change a hard drive to be another letter, BUT you can create another drive E: that is the same as C: with "subst". Type "help subst" if in real DOS, or "subst /?" if in 9x DOS.

You can't do that with readily available software. Why would you need to? You could install a new drive with two logical drives on it (C: & D:)after making the drive in question a slave drive. If you were just trying to make your CD-ROM have a higher letter than your Ramdrive, you could move device lines in the config.sys but I know of no easy way to change C:.
