How do I use this Modem?

I have just acquired a working IBM/PS1 model 2121 with a 2400 modem. The modem only has one plug instead of two. My IBM APTIVA has a plug for the telephone & a plug for the telephone line. The ps/1 has a picture on the back of the pc where the modem is of a telephone but I dont see anymore plugs for me to plug the telephone line up to. Any ideas?

You can put a phone line splitter in the wall and bring a line to your telephone out of one and a line to the PS/1 out of the other. You can find a splitter like that at Radio Shack.
I have the same model PS/1. I used it in the past to dial up a BBS and also to connect to the local FREENET. It uses a text base program for direct dialup. You won't want to try cruising the Internet with a graphic web browser and a 2400 modem.

Thank you Winston! I will buy one of these splitters & try this thing out. I still might try to connect to the net using it with a dialup & browser made for Msdos. I will search the net & download one. I have read about these dos web browsers/dialups reading here in computing.net. Am anxious to see what it is all about.

I believe that with the 2400 modem and the 386, you will want to stick with a Text based Web Browser like LYNX.
