How do I Format a MS-DOS partition

I tried everyting and I cant come up with it I really need help.

At the command prompt just type format [drive]:

Format is an external program so it will have to be in the path of the drive that you use it on. On a boot disk for example, it *should* be located in the root directory of A:

A:\>format c:
just make it ready for data

A:\>format c: /s
make it bootable and ready for data

If you're using fat 32 parts, you should use the format version from the dos underlay of win 95b or greater located in.

c:\windows\command\
