Hi,
Usually such names appear because of disk errors or viruses. So try to run Scandisk (or Norton Disk Doctor from Norton Utilities) and some anti virus software. May be they can remove those names. If not let us know about result.

I wasn't aware the Windows Explorer was that picky about a filename. You might try renaming it in Explorer. If it is, try moving it to a subdirectory (C:\junk\bad_dir) and then use the DELTREE command in DOS (C:> DELTREE JUNK)
