Ok - you probably could have continued from your original message in the 9x forum.
First, maybe see if cleaning the CD is helpful at all. If not, then what you want to do is create a folder on one of the hard drives (you'll need about 150Mb free space, give or take) - usually 'win98' is fine, but whatever you like - enter (from the target drive)
md win 98
.. and that'll create the folder. All you need to do now is to copy the contents of the CD's Win98 folder to the one on the hard drive
copy f:\win98\*.* c:\win98
(substitute the appropriate drive letters)
Once copied, switch to that folder and run setup.
Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience

xcopy D:\ /s c:\works45
would be an example if you wanted to copy the entire MS Works 4.5 cd to your harddrive.
To walk you thru it from the c:\> prompt:
Type:
md works45
xcopy d:\ /s c:\works45All assuming your cd drive is d: and the destination drive is c:...you get the idea.

OK, I see...you want to install 98 from the hdd or have a damaged 98 disk?
Do what jboy said. No need to copy all the crap on the cd; you only need the win98 folder.
You the one with the damaged cab9 directory?

Heh - ok, I see that you did

Man, that thread's an eye opener. First time I've heard a Mac doesn't have problems with unreadable cd's...lmfao.
All that advice and only a few who can see that you simply need a good cd.
To clarify, with 6 (or even one) missing or corrupt cab folders, you just ain't gonna install windows.
You need a good Win98 cd.
You need a good Win98 cd.
You need a good Win98 cd.There is one remote chance to save your cd. I don't think it'll work for you as it seems your cd has too much damage.
Try to burn a copy of the disk with whatever program you have to copy the disk on your cd-rw. Works for some scratched cd's.
Good luck.
