Good day from the NYPD. My name is Police Officer James T. Ryder of the NYC Police Department's Highway Patrol.
I have been assigned the challenging mission of converging some of our Confidential documents from 'ProWrite' to 'MSWord' and I'm hoping someone can help.
I have several documents that are being used daily with MS Professional Write, and when I attempt to bring them into Word the lines (horizontal and vertical) don't show, or yet worse they show in a quite odd way.
I believe we are using the latest version of "ProWrite" though I don't even know myself what version that is off-hand.
If someone can tell me how to complete this mission I would be very appreciative, and I'm sure a courtesy 'Highway Patrol' baseball hat would be in your future as a THANK YOU!
Sincerely,
James T. Ryder
PS. Below is my personal business, not related to the NYPD, but a way of contacting me!

Not ignoring just thinking of a program that will translate one to another.

I haven't used PFSWrite so I'm not exactly sure whether this will work or not, but run both programs and load your document in PFSWrite. Use the edit command and select the "select all", then "copy" then switch over to your MSWord blank document and edit then "paste".

That's the best I can offer.

I have the same problem. Have you found any answers yet. I have about 300 files that need to be converted. We are using the dos version of pfs writes and need to move to the windows world. (our printer keeps locking up because the buffers that windows uses are not the same as a pure dos world.)

So far I have only found two solutions:

(1) Reinstall PFS write and read in the old files and write out in ASCII format.

(2) Using XTGOLD 4.0 for windows, display the PFS files in a formated fashion and cut and paste using the windows paste buffer functions, moving the files to a new word processor window. It actually keeps the old format fine.

Finding XTGOLD 4.0 may be hard. I could cut a CD for those who ask nicely and keep their mouth shut.

XTGOLD 4.0, now owned by Central Point Software is most likely out of business as the last version was 1994.
