Hi,
does anybody find a solution how to set higher refresh rate >60Hz on newer nVidia graphics cards? On my older PC I used GeForce 440MX, it has VBE 3.0 and I successfully used VBEHZ tool to set 85Hz.

But now on GeForce 6600 PCI-E it doesn't work even it still has VBE 3.0. I read some discusion about it and somebody guess that those nVidiots screwed up the videobios locking at 60Hz because LCD guys might have troubles with higher refresh, this sucks. But maybe someone find a way. I also read that it's possible to modify default refreash rates on ATI cards using some BIOS editor. I know NIBITOR for nvidia cards but it doesn't have any refresh releated options :(

I found thins on a linux forum:
"Note that there are some boards (nVidia 59**, 57** and newer models) claiming that their Video BIOS is VBE 3.0 compliant, while ignoring the CRTC values provided by software such as vesafb-tng. You'll not be able to adjust the refresh rate if you're using one of these boards."

Seems to be very bad :( - need some vga BIOS hack or so. I'll try scitech stuff at evening but I don't belive it can help.

Interesting, I tried SciTech SNAP and it's ABLE to set higher refresh rate! I run GACTRL.EXE and selecr refresh and center, and interactive test and it really go @85Hz.

But how do I use SNAP for setting refresh rate for other DOS programs? I don't find which tool could be a TSR driver taking care of proper refresh set. If I understand the readme.txt it is just a driver your apps using SNAP library but it can't help existing programs.

About UniRefresh - I well know this tool but it use same way as VBEHZ so it's not working.

from closer look at scitech SNAP i found that previous verzions 2.x used generic vbecore.drv driver which cannot set refresh but new 3.x version use nvidia.drv which probably use some specific function for setting refresh rate.
Unfortunately scitech doesn't provide sources to their drivers (SNAP SDK use binary drivers) so no chance to look how they dop it :(
