OS: MS-DOS 6.22
CPU/Ram: Does not matter
Model/Manufacturer: Does not matter
Comment:
I know that this is possible, though I do not know how.

In a class that I've recently enrolled in, our instructor has challenged us to find a way to stop MS-DOS from displaying the information regarding loaded drivers (with the DEVICE= command) when it loads.

Is it at all possible that any of you have attempted this before and can offer some insight?

All help is appreciated.

Check out the ECHO command.

One of the problems I found from the early days, is that batch and/or os commands were frequently not fully documented, or missing entirely, in the various manuals etc. that were supplied with the pc's. This continued until the demise of dos.

For example the ATTRIB disappeared from the help system that came with version 6.x. At the time I reported this to MS, but am still awaiting a reply.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

Nice try, but DEVICE statements occur in config.sys, which loads before autoexec.bat or the command line - 'echo' statements cannot be issued there

... I suspect your instructor issued this challenge with the idea that you would attempt a solution on your own, not cast about for someone else's answers (such as they are to date)
