I'm trying to retore some old backups I made using Fastback Plus, circa 1992. This program is no longer made or supported by ANYONE I can find. Can anyone help?
Thank you!

You saved the Fastback Plus backups.
Do you have the Fastback Plus program ?
Then it would be a matter of booting the correct DOS version ...Best

No - unfortunately, I have lost the program disk(s). The good news is, I found and downloaded a trail version of the same version software and it actually worked in a command windows in XP! But since it is a trail version, it stopped after restoring 2MB (less than one 1.44MB of compressed info.)
Thanks for looking,
Eric

Wonder if it is the same format as MSBACKUP (just faster) ? Do you remember ? That's really surprizing that it ran at all on NT class.
Best

I have the same basic problem. A good friend of mine died recently, leaving a very large collection of FastBack Plus backups that he made for several of his customers, going back many years. He was still using it until he got too sick to do the backup the first of the year. He had to send his customers to someone else to handle their new backups. But several now need access to some of their old records from years ago.
MSBACKUP does not recognize any of the backups. I have spent months searching the Internet and through several thousand of his archive of DOS diskettes and programs and can not find the programs either. And have not been able to find a working copy. (Some of his stuff was damaged and thrown away by his relative who did not know what any of it was.)
A link to the trial version software would be useful to me, so I can at least verify which of the backups are usable.

Referring to the above comments relating to the old ms BACKUP utility.
It was my understanding that to restore dumps created by this, one had to use ms BACKUP.
Has this been tried?
Check out bootdisk.com, as Mike there has many old programs and can often help out with problems such as this.
Good luck - Keep us posted.

A MESSAGE FOR JACKG:
Jack,
Please e-mail me.I'd be happy to share the trail version I found.
Regards,
Eric
