i really hope u can spoon-feed me as i'm not good in dos commands. what i really want is a bat file which my computer's TASK SCHEDULER can execute on time when i'm not at the computer but it is on. this bat file being executed, will then executed the following command where the brupdate file is in my c: directory(i'm using win98): example of the command i need to type for a certain day in the c: directory: brupdate feb07 where in this command, the brupdate remains but the "feb07" will change and update automatically by itself according to the date and month on the day of execution. i really hope u can help me.thanks alot

I'm not real sure what your asking except that you want to parse a command... use the %1 sign for the parse ie. copy con xxx.bat cd\xxxx filetorun %.xxx ^z ^z = ctr+z this is the format for say an editor [filetorun] and the file to edit %1.xxx when the bat file as[xxx zzzz is run it parses zzz to the filetorun.... same as filetorun zzzz
