Subject: Help! Dos 6.22 upgrade?!
|
Comment: I lost my original DOS 6.22 setup disks BUT I found two disks labeled "Dos 6.22 Upgrade" I try to run the setup but since this PC is wiped clean, the setup program aborts when it cant verify that I already have DOS on the system. IS there any way to bypass this?

Reply: (edit)I believe you're talking about the 6.22 "stepup" disks. If I'm not mistaken, those are to upgrade any previous 6.x version to 6.22.

Reply: (edit)It may also look for an existing DOS directory. If doing the above doesn't work, try creating a C:\DOS directory as well, that may do the trick.

Reply: (edit)Oh, gosh! I am such the idiot. You said two disks, right? A full install is three disks. So, obviously, some files have to already exist. --Doh! Drop me an e-mail and I'll fix you up.

Reply: (edit)A quick note! watch out for a bad copy of '1msdos62.exe' it works but is missing a few files when installed.
