I have a 4000.7 mb caviar (I think that is how you spell it). But I'm putting it into a P100 and when I fdisk it it only tell me that is has 503mb so I formatted the drive fdisk it again and still 503. I put the drive into another computer that has 2.2 gig hdd and fdisk it and still says 503mb. Could it be the verison of fdisk I'm using.

It's probably an incompatibility with your system BIOS and larger drives. A P-100 was built somewhere around early 1996 and may not support larger drives.
You might check with the manufacturer of the system board and check it out.
If it's true,WesternDigital may have an overlay software that could make it recognizable.

Larry, I was thinking the same thing, but he said he put the 4gig in a computer that already has a 2.2gig and got the same problem.
Of course, Mike when you fdisked it on the P100 did you partition it? It could be that it was partitioned on the old PC and when you port it to the other one it was already partitioned, so it only read 503meg.
If it was a compatibility problem with the older Bios, however, I don't think it would even detect it.

Hi, Had a similar problem with an old 486. I've got a 1 GB drive, the BIOS only supports 430 MB, you definitely need something like EZ drive to get it up and running. Regards,
