Reply: (edit)Try putting a boot disk in. At the a prompt type c: and hit enter. If it doesn't see drive c then try sys c: after this try fdisk. Careful as this program will remove everything on the hard drive. Select option 4 to see the partitions without changing anything. Press escape to get back out. Last resort if you do see the partition and sys c doesn't work you might have to do a format. Good luck!

Reply: (edit)Bootdisk.com has,you guessed it, boot disks. Try the MS Dos 6.x one.

Reply: (edit) I am not sure of this, but I think "invalid media type" is one of the error messages you can get when the hard drive is larger than the operating system can access. (That is not DOS 3.1 you have on there?) The windows version does not matter. Type VER to see what version of dos you have. As mentioned above by someone, the way to investigate this is with a boot disk of MS-DOS 6.00 or higher--or 5.0 would do it.
