Comment:

I have an Quantum Fireball 13GB (and a
IBM P3 500mhz and i think its an Acer
motherboard)

The problem is, as explained in an earlier
posting, and similar to Frik Engels
"computer dont see my hard disk "
posting from june 13 .

Bios dont detect my harddrive. If i unplug
it. Wait a little while. Replug it at the other
plugg on the ide cable it works fine, but i
have to switch between the two pluggs on
my ide-cable. If i shutdown my computer i
have to go through the same prosess
again.

What in the world is causing this
problem? is it the harddrive or the
Ide-controller/motherboard? I havent tried
it on another computer or another
harddrive on mine yet. I might want to buy
a new one, but what if its the motherboard
thats causing the problem...
I have tried with another IDE-cable, and
on the other IDE-controller (where the
cd-rom goes), but its the same problem.

I would really appriciate if someone could
help me out here.

Thanks,

Eiki

Hello,
I would say it's a problem with the IDE controller, is it built onto the motherboard or is it an ISA card ?

you may want to go into setup and make its set up auto detect your second drive also if you using it as a second drive make sure that it set as a slave

I only have one drive and the IDE-controller is on the motherboard. I found out that it helps, if the drive is not detected, to turn the computer fast off and on.

I face the same problem as wat eiki faced. But my problem is worse. Previously my quantum h/d 10.2GB seems working after several times of restart. Eventually, now the h/d cannot function anymore. I heard sound coming from the h/d in the last time i use it. It is some problem to the pin ? Wat should i do except buying a new h/d ? The warranty period is just "ngam-ngam" past for 2 months.
