Anyone still know where to find someone with the ' password of the day ' program to unlock a gridcase 1520 laptop. I changed out the old dead cmos battery, and had no idea that when I rebooted the bios goes into safety lock mode and generated a new password you need before it will boot.

Downloading setpass.exe from here should help you, also many other programs... :-)

There are debug scripts to clear PW.
But, of course, if it won't boot, no software will help.
There is a link to 'default PW' by make and model. If you want I'll dig it up.
BUT, on that site I read the caution that many BIOS will PERMANENTLY lock after three wrong tries.

Yes, if you can dig it up, that would be great !!
No software will work because, yes, it wont boot.
Make: Gridcase
Model: 1520From what I gather, the unlock program first needs to know what date the computer is displaying on my screen when I boot.
The date on my screen is 55/::/55
From that, then unlock program will then generate the correct password to unlock the Gridcase. After that, I reset the date and time and then I'll be at the command prompt. From there I can run the SETPASS program 'IF' I wish to have a bootup password.
It's all about the "date" and "time" in the CMOS clock battery. If the clock battery gets changed out, and thus the new battery is blank with no date or time, the BIOS goes into protected mode like this by default.
Also, if you do find the unlock program, can I get a copy of it just in the event that this thing ever locks up again?
Thanks
Bill
